You can disturbrute this Tutorial any way you like but it must not be edited

=================================
what the writer has to say.....
================================
This is MY method of rippin SNES characters from SNES roms
what is roms? goto alta vista to do a search on 'emulation'
although it is confusing, but don't blame me, i'm only a 12 year old
singaporean chinese boy so shuddap and get rippin!oh yeah, be warned that in
some roms, the graphics are soo messed up that they are hardly noticed, this
tutorial is
mainly for rippin RPG games.This is Shining Haunter a.K.a Lek Yuan
Shen(shinhaunter@hotmail.com)
Year 2000
==================================
Okay, this is a bit confusing so CONCENTRATE
Before you start go d/l this progs:
Zsnes(emulator.---->www.zsnes.com)
BGmapper(PC utilities--->Super Nintendo)
REC(rom graphics cracker)(Hacking and translation utilities.I'm not sure
where)
A good paint prog,DON'T USE MS PAINT'lame'(i prefer Paint Shop Pro)

Bg mapper and REC can be d/l from www.zophar.net
==============================
step 1:Choose your character
==============================
Okay, this is easy, open Zsnes and open the rom, play untill the desired
character appear
*RPG SPECIAL*actually, if you just want to exract the heroes, wait till you
have 'em all, goto the menu screen, where usually there will be pictures of
the characters all together
When you're at the desired point of the game, press f2 to make a (game).zst
quit the prog, go find the .zst file copy it and there you go!You have
chosen your character
========================
Step 2:Bg mapper saves the day!
========================
Now bring your .zst file to the same folder as the bg mapper, and drag the
file to the bgmapper .exe file
Actually you have the map of the place where you saved at, but we don't want
the map in this Tutorial, We want the sprites!
press ESC, a menu should appear, select 'graphics'
Now you're at a place Where ALL the graphics at that point is stored
but they are in the WRONG palette(they all have the first palette)
Let's have a SNES lesson now, Each tile(including the sprites) can only have
16 colours. See those bunch of colors at the right half of the screen? each
row is 16 colour palette for each tile/sprite. push the down button until
you find the precious characters.
now click on a row, move your mouse to the character and click, and, volia,
you gave that tile a change of palettes.
Experiment with each 16 colour palette to find out what palette the
characters use(usually they use diffrent palettes), when you found em,
remeber which row of palette you used, now press the Printscreen butt(above
insert).Quit the prog, goto your paint prog, in this tutorial, i'll be using
PSP4(if you want abode might do the job too)
Now paste the screen shot as a new image.Let's minimize the prog now.
=========================
step3:the final, colourful and long step
=========================
Open REC prog, load rom, and load technique(refer to the readme file that
you got in the REC .zip file)
usually snes16bit
now let's study the screen, that box at the bottom left of the screen is the
palette colour, above writes it's #index number.
Those arrows at the right side of the box are for adjusting the RGB
colour(ahh...make sure your paint prog has ability to show the RGB code of
the colours)
minimize this prog go back to PSP. Now remeber i told you to memorise the
palette?goto that palette and use the ink droper tool to find out the RGB of
the first colour(left to right) in the row.
now MERMORISE IT! go back to REC and make sure you're at palette no #0.
adjust the palette with those RGB buttons to the RGB code you MEMORISED(DID
YOU FORGOT ABOUT IT?).Switch to #1 after doing the adjusting.go back to PSP
put the ink dropper on the second colour in the row, like just now
MERMORISE IT!!go back to REC adjust palette #1.You should adjust palette
#0-#15 by switching back to PSP from REC to PSP(confusing?)
you should adjust em like the table below
-------------------
In PSP | IN REC
First  | #0
Second | #1
Third  | #2
and so on.........
Now after adjusting #15, scroll down the rec screen
and find those sprites, You SHOULD be able to find it(messed up).now when
you found the correct character, scroll untill the first most tile of the
character is at the border, press print screen-goto PSP-paste as new
image.Go back to REC, press page down-printscreen,paste in PSP.keep doing
that until you have all the actions you wantin PSP, the characters are 3x
bigger than usual, so crop the bunch of graphics and resize the pic by
dividing the length and breath by 3, do a bit of piecing up the tiles, and
VOLIA, YOU"VE DONE IT

was
all set to do it until I relized I needed the BG Mapper and the Rom graphics
cracker. If you can, can you put them in a zip file and send them to this

tell me where to find those programs.

Thanks alot,
